Plantation Lakes opened in 1994. The complex has three lakes open at the moment and all  are all heavily stocked with a wide variety of coarse fish. The coarse and carp lakes were dug in the summer of 1994 and opened for fishing the following November. The match or horseshoe lake as it is also known was dug in the autumn of 1999 and opened for fishing in February 2000. During the summer of 2007 a major maintenance program was undertaken, pictures can be viewed via the 'Photo Gallery' - 'Maintenance 2007' link button at the top of this page, otherwise 'Click Here'

The job entailed draining the coarse lake and moving the fish to the other lakes on site, up to a metre of silt was then dredged out all over the lake and the swims and banks cleared. Also the trees and bushes were given a short back and sides ! We then refilled the lake and put the fish back in. During this time the larger carp were moved into the carp lake. The next job was to lower the water level in the carp lake to enable us to catch the vast majority of the under 10 pounders, these were put into the coarse lake to replace the bigger fish that had earlier gone the other way. We then refilled the carp lake after fitting a pipe which now links both lakes and enables us to top both up at the same time !

We then moved across to the match lake where all the overgrown areas were pruned and the new bagging match lake was dug out and filled. This will be stocked over the course of the next 6-9 months prior to opening next summer. Both match lakes have been piped to ease filling in the future.

Hot and cold food and drinks can be purchased from the on site restaurant cafe which is just over the road from the car park and taken back to your swim if you so wish. The restaurant has a varied menu and can also be booked for functions weddings etc, etc. Ring Ed or Lucy on 07784 169234 or 'Click Here' to go to their website for more details.

Why not come along and give it a go, we are certain you won't be disappointed !
